The Yarra Bend Junior Golf Program is based at Yarra Bend Golf in Fairfield.
Based on the principles of Long Term Athlete Development, the Program has been designed by Denis McDade, Head of the Junior Advisory Board of the Titleist Performance Institute.
We focus on developing golf skills, athletic ability and most importantly, a love for the game of golf. We do this via a carefully structured curriculum that provides age appropriate golf and athletic development training programs.
The Programs are delivered by the highly qualified coaches from BannLynchMcDade and child physical development experts from Elite Movement Junior. All staff involved with the Program possess a Working with Children Check card.
We use a 10 Level Classification System in the Cyclone and SMASH schools. This system is similar to the belt system used in Martial Arts.
The Classification System provides incentive for your child to improve their skills in order to get to the next level. It also allows your child’s coach to provide information that is relevant to them, as the Curriculum taught differs for each Cap Level.
When juniors first enroll in our Program, they receive a red cap and red wrist band, which represents the novice level of our system. Cap colour represents the level of golf skills attained, whilst the wrist band colour represents the level of athletic development.
The cap and wrist band colour progression are Red, Red/White, White, White/Blue, Blue, Blue/Green, Green, Green/Black, Black, Black/Silver.
In order to progress through each level, juniors must pass a series of fun, age appropriate tests that examine the development of the golf and athletic skills they have learned. Gradings are usually held twice per calendar year.
